490461 2006-10-10 02:45:00 Through trying out different video encoding software, I've ended up with some broken codecs and can't find how to remove them. Anyone know a good way to do this? I think the offending program was Super (C) which I know a lot of people use. I've had a quick look on google and free-codecs but can't find a solution.

Got a good old screenshot of the list of ones I want to get rid of.

490463 2006-10-10 22:12:00 Sorry, didn't mention I'm on WinXP (Pro SP2), looks like thats for Win95-WinME and I couldn't follow the directions 'roughly' in XP :/ sal (67)
490464 2006-10-10 22:23:00 Are you, by any chance, having trouble using windows moviemaker?. Is this why your getting the codec error.

Why i mention it is because when i first started doing video editing i used moviemaker then after installing other editing programs such as ulead i could never use moviemaker again. I was getting a codec error.

No great loss as ulead and premiere are alot more powerfull.

490465 2007-01-16 23:10:00 Hey Sal, did you manage to fix the problem?.
I've started having a problem too. I cant connect any camera to my computer. I get an error "Creation of the video preview failed".
I'm wondering if you had the same problem and did you fix it.

If anyone else can help i would be much appreciated.

This (support.microsoft.com) may fix it.

It wont be a codec prob.

490467 2007-01-16 23:46:00 I saw that when i had a search for a fix but restarting my computer or the computer doesn't fix the problem. It happens when i plug in either my usb webcam or my digital video camera using the firewire. I get the same error on both. lazydog (148)

I have heard a few people say that about Windows Movie Maker.
I would also agree with the other programs mentioned.

Hmm might be a driver prob, reinstalling the webcam drivers may fix it, but the firewire drivers would be part of XP .

So, not sure how you would fix the DVC .

You're not running an IM program at the same time (when you're trying to view it in my computer are you)?

490470 2007-01-17 00:20:00 Nope, not using a messenger program at the same time.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled the firewire card. Still not working.

I think it maybe time for a clean install.
