| 490417 | 2006-10-09 22:03:00 | Hi I'm currently on Ubuntu Linux and I would like to try out Puppy Linux. I downloaded it onto my USB flashdrive and I would like the computer to load the USB drive on bootup. I am not sure how to configure the system to do that... |

It must be written as an image, so it creates the boot sector and a complete filesystem. Doubtless the site you downloaded it from gave full instructions. ;) Making a bootable Linux floppy from an image file uses dd or rawrite; dd would probably work on a USB, and I suppose there's a rawrite equivalent for USB. Then, you just need to use whatever means your machine's BIOS provides for selecting the boot order in SETUP, or a particular device at boot time. |
