| 490410 | 2006-10-09 19:01:00 | Since yesterday I have had a really strange problem on my computer. For some strange reason I can't post to my own board. I had thought no one could post, but others can, just not me! It just hangs and doesn't upload. I also can't ftp to my site either. Even with a very small file, it just hangs and is unable to proceed. I can post on other boards, like this one, just not on my own, as me or as another ID. it hangs and doesn't send the message. I checked out the date modified on the messagebaord php pages, using ftp, to see if i had been hacked, and they havn't been changed since the weekend, when it was running fine. I can access the DB using mysql through cpanel, but not sure what to look for there. Is there a way i can be blocked from uploading to my own account? My webhost doesn't see any problems with it. Anyone got any ideas? |

| 490412 | 2006-10-09 21:01:00 | It would be good to know what board you use, currently I'm dealing with quite a few boards that have been defaced and also exploited. I would mention those who are currently doing the rounds but they don't need anymore exposure, they're making a name for themselves. You say it's your board so I assume your user would be an administrator, do you still have access to the administrator panel and also has there been weird posts appearing that seem to contain strange code, if anything like that did appear you should instantly make them invisible and remove them, never leave them open, look at what they used in the code and filter the start of it so that it will render their exploit useless. You should probably upgrade too, since usually it's been fixed and only those who are falling behind get hit. The fact that you tried another user and still same results throws most things out the water, unless prevention is done by your IP which could be static. If you do have access to the administrator panel, then make sure your user is in the correct group, there's no unknown moderators/admins that you don't know of in the team and be sure to check the administrator logs and also the server logs for strange activity. Apart from that, the problem might not even be hack related, so there's other avenues you could go down. Cheers, KK |

| 490413 | 2006-10-09 23:26:00 | I use an XMB board . (see sig below) No wierd posts, html is turned off in messages, and there are few other posts in the last few days . I checked the admin logs and there has been no activity apart from me . The fact that the ftp fails to upload is wacky as well . Its like I have only read access to my site and not write access . I turned off zonealarm and nortons security, but no change . Windows firewall isn't turned on . Another poster from NZ also had trouble posting last night, but managed it today . Thanks for your ideas :) |

| 490414 | 2006-10-10 00:32:00 | Strangly enough it seems to have partially fixed itself. After using another persons computer, with a different IP address and successfully logging on and posting with that machine, upon returning to my own system it worked! Weird .... Nope, back to being broken.... got one post on then thats it. |
