490284 2006-10-09 06:39:00 I've recently upgraded this computer and the screen always went black while the computer is running.
The specs:
Intel Pentium 4 With HT 3.0Ghz
GeCube Powercolor Randeon 9600 Pro 256MB (recently upgraded previously on ASUS Randeon 9550SE 128MB)
200GB PATA Western Digital + 250GB SATA Maxstor HDD
400W AcBel OEM Power Supply
1250MB Kingston DDR RAM
ASUS P4P800SE MOBO
OS Windows XP with Service Pack 2
ViewSonic VE510B 15" LCD Monitor
All components run OK with ASUS Randeon 9550SE except recently with this Randeon 9600 Pro 256MB. Is it my power supply too weak? Because if it is the graphic card problem I'm going to return it.
Solutions?

490285 2006-10-09 09:09:00 If you can see the starting screens before the desktop would come up, then it could be that you have too higher graphic settings for the monitor. Two things, firstly the resolution ( eg 640 x 480 , 800 x 600 etc..) or secondly the refresh rate (eg 75HZ , 70Hz etc..)

If you can boot into safemode OK, then while there, change the refresh rate to 50Hz and the resolution to 640 x 480 and restart.

If you then get into your normal desktop OK, then just adjust each separately until your happy, or , it goars dark again.

Here's hoping.

490286 2006-10-09 09:13:00 When does it go blank? as the computer is started or wen ur in windows it happens suddenly?. gum digger (6100)
490287 2006-10-10 02:57:00 The problem is when I start the Windows Xp it is OK. And after booting successfully in normal mode and running for few hours the whole screen just show no signal while the computer is running.
It have never happened with ASUS 9550 card before except this. The power supply watt requirements is OK because it is for 300W-400W.
Any clue? Or faulty goods?

490288 2006-10-11 04:20:00 so, you upgraded the video card and now have video issues.... i dont know much about power issues (as i am yet to suffer them) but it sounds like a faulty card. have you updated drivers? (doubt it would help but it almost never hurts) motorbyclist (188)
490289 2006-10-12 07:14:00 Ok. Now the conclusion has drawn to Faulty card(Very Obvious). Thanks motorbyclist.
I don't think I really like this company(GeCube) at all[Because of first time bad impression], any full refunds? I bought this card around $110. :( I know I know ASUS qualtiy is a lot better, but cost a lot more. I bought this card at PCSale.co.nz
Any idea that how can I get the full refund back?
Which graphics card hardware maker is more acceptable? Palit, Gigabytes, etc.? I know one which is ASUS, but any others?

490290 2006-10-12 07:44:00 If its still under a year / warranty take it back. Hopefully, you still have the receipt.

Never used Gigabyte, or heard of Palit. Used to use Nvidia based cards, but the latest drivers for them are crap. These systems kept crashing / having probs with the drivers.

So, changed to ASUS ATI based cards. Havent had probs since.

Thanks. I won't go for Palit, Gigabyte, and GeCube. And Nividia graphics too. ;) Thanks Speedy Gonzales.
