1407983 2015-09-05 07:18:00 Hi guys,

I've just started having a problem on my Win 10 laptop with Chrome. I get the message "Google Chrome has stopped working - a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" This happens as soon as I start Chrome, no browser window even appears.

I haven't made any recent changes to software. This just started after I had closed and re-opened Chrome today. Prior to then it had been working fine.

I have deleted the default profile folder so it would create a new Chrome profile, no difference. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, no difference. Including both using Revo Uninstaller, and Google's own Chrome cleanup tool on different occasions, to make sure all cache and temp files were deleted - still doesn't fix the problem.

I thought I would also try a sfc /scannow, which showed corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. But, it seems the errors only relate to MS Edge, same problem as many people are having here: www.tenforums.com - there's no corrupted files elsewhere that I can see.

I've scanned for viruses and nothing is found, plus done a Malware Bytes scan, also clean.

Any suggestions on how I can get Chrome working again?

PS, the WIn 10 upgrade was from an existing Win 8 installation. I did this around 3 or 4 weeks ago and it's been working fine in that time - this Chrome problem only started happening today.

1407984 2015-09-05 07:50:00 Its a known problem with Windows 10 and Chrome - Sometimes updates from windows go in and break chrome.

A general fix is to download and install the 64 Bit version OR Chrome Canary www.google.com Keep in mind that canary is develop and pre release versions

1407985 2015-09-05 08:01:00 Ahh OK thanks, I might give Canary a try. I've got nothing to lose even if it's Beta seeing as the regular Chrome isn't working at all! The Canary download page only says Win 7 and 8 but I guess it should work for Win 10 also?
Let's hope MS & Google can figure out a way to stop this known issue with regular Chrome soon!

It is, so is MS Edge, but I didn't write about those...
