1397908 2015-04-03 19:03:00 Has anyone here had all their teeth replaced by dentures recently? It looks to be the only affordable solution for me, and I'd be interested to hear how horrific or otherwise the experience was. My g/f assures me that the technology and procedure are far less unpleasant than it used to be, according to her ex. Any comments would be helpful in my deciding what to do. Thanks. Greg (193)
1397909 2015-04-03 21:00:00 A couple of years ago I went to the dentist, after avoiding this for many years, expecting to have all my top teeth removed. In the end he removed only four, and repaired the others as needed. I then had a partial plate made which filled the gaps, and could not be happier with this. It is true, you do get your smile back. Your girlfriend is right, modern dental treatment is a lot less painful than it was in the past, and much faster. Make an appointment with your dentist just to explore possible options first, before making a decision. He will do a full inspection and tell you his recommendation.

Go for it Greg. You won't be sorry, but make sure you take the best options offered to you, even if it costs a bit more.

1397910 2015-04-03 21:44:00 Just had a new top plate made. The old one lasted 43 years after I had all my top teeth removed and the dentures put in straight away. Never in all that time have I missed my own teeth!!! I have still got about 7 of my bottom teeth and therefore manage very well. I believe that bottom plates are a different matter though. Brother in law hates his as food keeps getting under them.

i could not afford implants. they can put 4 implants in and the plate mounts on that. but at 1k per implant on top of the price for the rest.
my teeth have always been bad, its surprising they lasted this long.

the actual removal of teeth, easy as. knocked me out. well its not quite a knock out, but rather you don't remember anything. you still get the normal jobs in the mouth.
it cost a little more but well worth it. require someone to drive you home etc. but i was fine 1/2 hour after, just the usual numb face.

then 3 months of no teeth. all the broken bits slowly come out and the gum shrinks down to size.
you can get dentures to wear in the mean time but it costs more as they need to be relined a few times. also i think the teeth fragments would hit the dentures, which may not be that nice. but the dentures do tend to act like a bandaid. some pro's/con. for me it was extra cost so i didn't bother.

All very well, I was just quoted 5g for a single implant.

A crown is a 1K, so that doesn't sound right.

1397916 2015-04-04 00:59:00 just having a look at it.
the cost may be different as mine would be just the implant, while yours may be implant and crown that goes on the implant. plus cost per tooth goes down with multiple teeth.
by mem its was 4k for the denture and 8k for denture plus implants.

1397917 2015-04-04 01:16:00 They are a bit shy to advertise their prices I note.

It is $2000 in Thailand.
