1398396 2015-04-16 08:24:00 The command net view will give the names of computers connected via Ethernet
'net view' will only show machines that answer to SMB probes or are already enumerated by a master browser i.e. only those running samba or windows file and print sharing.

if you use arp -a it will give all connected devices by ip address.
Only those that have communicated with the machine you are running that command on.
The only way to reliably do what the OP wants is to get the info from the router - how will depend on what the router supports.

To get the name, it only does a NBT & a DNS lookup - you'll only get a name if that client provides one that has been registered in your local NETBIOS cache or DNS server.

Had it happen twice in as many weeks, take a re-installed Lappie back, go to reconnect the wireless, no one knew what the changed password was and the default user name / Password had been changed as well.
Of course no one knew what they had been changed to. Only way to get in was to reset back to defaults. In one case that wasn't a good option as the business has quite a few people that connect at various times during the day and night and of course at the time no one who used the wireless could be contacted to get the password from their devices, even then I was told they wouldn't remember.
