1398303 2015-04-14 21:31:00 They are cute, my parents used to breed them for meat and fur and some for rabbit shows. Rather tasty too. However in this country wild rabbits are a pest and a scene like that one would be grounds for a serious culling.
You can't eat a family pet (well I can't) so the cute ones we had for shows were always safe, but you don't get attached to the meat rabbits. NZ white are good eating.

We have strict laws about not releasing them into the wild and not cross breeding in this country, not sure people that buy them as pets understand that the way breeders do though.

Hmm....guess she could.
Anyway Greg the farmers had to do something...you seen those old docos with the rabbits everywhere?!

And now they mostly have immunity anyway...so back to square one.
I'd happily buy them if they could shoot and sell them.
