1482914	2021-12-16 01:44:00	So my brother couldn't use his govt issued Kiwi ID card to get his vaccine pass, and not having a Dl ever, and only an ancient expired passport, had to get a new birth cert. Old one too old so they said. This is taking ages. Meanwhile he went here: healthpass.nz and the printed pass arrived today. So how come they can get it, cause all it is is a card with the actual Min of Health thing they give you, with the scan-able thing etc. ANyway, he got an email today, saying problem with birth cert as apparently his name isn't (my dads surname) it's (my mums maiden name), cause date of birth was before their date of marriage and at the time that's what was default. 62 years ago.... Uhuh. Never mind the slight oh really info - how then did he get a passport in (dads surname) before? And kiwi id, and sign up at Winz so long ago, and doctors, hospitals and so on? And his vaccine info. It's all govt depts, in fact how do you get a passport? Same place. How is it he wasn't told this then? We rather like (my mums maiden name) instead....if it wasn't for the hassle of changing all his other stuff, and online real name and bills and everything he'd leave it be. But now he must fill out new forms to get the name he's used for 62 years. Hopeless.....	piroska (17583)

He had previously got a birth cert, passport and kiwi ID. Signed up at winz, docs, hospital etc..... Been vaccinated too, all of it under the "wrong" name. NOW he asks for a new birth cert and they tell him this? So what happened all the other times he requested and received documents. And....he couldn't get his vaccine pass, right? Suffice to say that having to get baptized twice, I won't have trouble getting through the pearly gates, rofl. Still don't know who has my original birth certificate, life insurance office, NZ Defence, Borough Council for drivers licence, State Advances for Home Loan. It could be Social Welfare for sickness benefit. Never mind that, did all our covid crap through the 0800 no. and we cannot fault the lovely lady on the other end, everything went through fantastically, bh has her pass laminated and mine is just a printout from the lovely lady. 1482918	2021-12-17 10:52:00	I had issues getting a passport when I was a teen for the same reason. Being a bastard they didn't think that I existed under my current legal name (name was changed when I was 2, when parents married), despite already having an IRD number under it. I also attempted to get a British passport as I was elligible but that became an impossibility after the name issues.	hueybot3000 (3646)
