1479877 2021-08-20 01:45:00 I think you use the numeric keypad. But I didn't get a square root symbol.
251 = ¹
0251 = û

I normally google for it: and past it in: √

1479878 2021-08-20 02:02:00 Works in Word. Will work but W10 is not a text editor.

Depends on the app you are using, heres word --- Click where want, press Alt + 251 Press enter.

1479880 2021-08-20 03:18:00 you can run the character map app and cut and paste, been in windows forever but it takes a bit of searching, this symbol is called square root and hovering over it shows U+221A whatever that means √√√√√√√√√√√√√√
it's about 4 clicks up from the bottom in the scroll bar

edit: just figured out if you tick advanced view there's a search box you can search for square root and find it that way

1479881 2021-08-20 05:10:00 It doesn't work in Word 2013 , ALT +251 I get ¹ Similar to Dug

To insert Square root symbol (√) in Word, type 221A (Select them) and then press Alt+X to convert the alt code into a square root symbol (√).

Several Methods as well www.solveyourtech.com

Method 1 works in Word

NOTE: Any tests have been with Word in Office 365. Office 2013 is to outdated and dont have any installed.

Tested on Office 2010 and 2013 old test VMs, I get the square root symbol as well.

It works ..

Thanks....

Now, let's go one step further: how to key it from an Android phone? Google has many answers, but none works...

My stock Android keyboard has a square root key buried deep in the symbols board

1479885 2021-08-20 10:46:00 On my phone, using the standard Gboard app, I go to the symbol page "=\>", then the √ appears, next to π and ÷ MushHead (10626)
