He is offended that people are questioning the police if they have been vetted. In most areas of trust like this vetting in a prerequisite. Ken The Police are vetting roadblock volunteers. Honi Harawera admitted that some will have past convictions . That doesnt allways make them unsuitable . It might make them more intimidating . those roadblocks are going to be a sh*t show as many tens of thousands travel out of Ak on holiday . There will be very angry motorists & long traffic jams . motorists refusing to comply with Maori , arguments & fist fights , cars speeding past checkpoints , and the news media lapping it all up & stirring the pot . I dont see why anyone would want to travel to a holiday destination where they arnt wanted . |

I dont see why anyone would want to travel to a holiday destination where they arnt wanted . i've been through the road block as i work on the other side of it. its only was manned by police, tho i did see one non-police person next to an officer at one of the other spots (they have the back road covered as well). no sign of cars being pulled off the road (which i saw plenty of with the old check points). traffic is normal, no sign of frantic holiday makers yet. might get a rush on friday afternoon, but its usually Christmas eve thats the big crawl. |
