Do you not remember all the previous ~facts~ that turned out to be false.
No official statement from MS , then dont believe it.

"Microsoft is announcing today that it won’t block people from installing Windows 11 on most older PCs"
Where did they announce that . Give me the official MS link & Ill believe it.
Insiders releases dont count , Im talking about official final releases

"Overall, it’s a big change that means millions of PCs may not be left behind, technically. "
What a load of nonsense
You wont be able to get updates, so YES THOSE PCS WILL BE LEFT BEHIND

"the actual minimum Windows 11 specs mean that CPU generations don’t matter"
yes , CPU generation will still matter . Ryzen 1st gen still not supported .

"Microsoft won’t be officially supporting any Zen 1 CPUs"
Wait, didnt that article just say CPU generation wont matter ?

So that website basically says, nothing has really changed. The current hacks to install W11 on old PC's will still work , you wont get updates.
Not helpfull or usefull at all.
Its like saying, yes you can install Office for free , its stops working after 30days :)

You'll still get Win 11 updates but they may stop when Win 11 is officially released. That's what I see on my way out of date desktop.

It has changed, Microsoft firmly said that they would remove the ability to use those registry entries. Now at the very least you have the ability to run it unsupported.

The Verge isn't just some random internet website, it's one of the biggest tech publications on the internet.

Understand the difference between support and install. Just because it's not officially supported doesn't mean that you can't run it- you do so at your own risk, which is how Windows has always been and should be. No one here is saying that Microsoft have to support it, only that they shouldn't block you from installing it just because they don't officially support it. Windows as it should be and has always been- if it can run, let it run.

Take off the tin foil hat and have a smile instead.

1480119 2021-08-30 08:44:00 OK try this again directly from MS Servers aka.ms

If not then I can always post the exe file.

The link downloads the checker ok; and, that it says my CPU doesn't meet their requirement!

Now, what is the next step to download the W11 install file?

Now, what is the next step to download the W11 install file? The ONLY current ISO is the Insider Version, this is a Testing version but stable - had no crashes on ANY PC and its currently running on 3 Computers that are Not "compatible" It will run on just about any Spec PC. So its not the final Public release.

WARNING: This is NOT the finished Product, DONT ADVISE using it as your main OS yet.!!!!!

IF you wish to install it fresh, you can use a W7-8 ( or 10) Product key. BUT I've found if you do an in place upgrade via clicking the setup.exe it works similar to doing a W10 Update /Repair install.

Had some PC's not want to install at all from fresh, only as an upgrade.

If using a current working W10 MAKE A COMPLETE image 1st.

Go to www.windowscentral.com

Scroll down the page, Number 1 under the heading "How to download the ISO file of Windows 11" There's a link to the Insider Downloader Page. This IS the official Microsoft ISO.

The GOTYA --- You'll need a MS account to sign in with, ( normally Insider account)

I don't know if this link will work or not in not signed in - its a direct link to the ISO

software-download.microsoft.com (software-download.microsoft.com) 5.11GB

The Un-official way is to use UUP Dump, these are downloaded from the MS servers, and used by LOTS of people on the insider program, perfectly safe and not altered.

Go here https://uupdump.net/ Scroll down slightly then under "Recently added builds" Click on the 1st Entry ( assuming you want X64) follow the options. It makes a script, takes longer but works ( its only testing remember)

If using UUP Dump, remember its always changing and being added to, so last nights #4 is now today #5 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 (22000.168) amd64

Once downloaded follow the instruction bottom of page, = extract the contents of the zipped file, run the Windows CMD - go have lunch or make a cuppa, it takes a while, sometimes it looks like its stopped it hasn't. When its finished you will get the message press 0 to exit. Then you have a finished ISO in the same folder.

You can change options on the download page, but the default ususlly work fine.

Very quick Video showing how its done. I always untick th eN versions - no need for them unless you have a N version of Windows :)

W11 will be available to the public on October 5th. If your computer has ever had W10 activated on it you shouldn't have any hassles.

Not true . If you dont meet CPU hardware requirements, you'll be out of luck.
Even if you manage to somehow install W11 , you wont get any Windows updates if your CPU is too old.
