2021-12-19 21:03:00 | This morning I find lots of $2 debits from something called Google YouTube Super, I think they only stopped because my overdraft limit was reached. Contacted bank, card stopped, fraud dept to look into it. I've been through everything I can think of and I have no idea how they accessed my bank account, I have no payment methods or paid subscriptions set up with Google or YouTube. Any suggestions as to how this has happened and anything I need to do. Thanks | bellbird (6169) | |

2021-12-20 00:23:00 | thanks for the link Lawrence. I am the only person using YouTube or my phone and computer. I'm trying to understand what Google YouTube Super actually is, there is supposed to be a link to any transactions but I'm having trouble with that. I'll keep trying. | bellbird (6169) | |
2021-12-20 00:48:00 | Is this on your Credit card or on your general bank a/c ? I presume your bank passwords have been changed . If its fraud/ a scam, the "Google YouTube Super" is irrelevant . It may not be anything to do with Google YouTube , and that may be just to make it seem legit if casually glancing at bank/CC records (part of the scam)

2021-12-20 02:16:00 | 1101 - it's my general a/c and thanks for reminder to change bank password. Thats disturbing Its the FIRST thing the bank should have done when you notified them . scammers may have setup an automatic payment (or direct debit) from your a/c , so the bank or you will need to check that A direct debit , they dont need to access your a/c at all , but you would have needed to approve it .

2021-12-20 02:41:00 | if you buy something online and save your info, that site can be hacked. Or you save info in your browser. So they then use your cards or account to buy stuff, sometimes small things like this as long as they can. I always use a visa, cause it's what you pay that yearly fee for - protection. Banks do monitor credit cards and contact you. Happened to my brother a while ago, He didn't even know, cause nothing showed up - the bank said they noticed and stopped it before it even got to the statement.

2021-12-20 03:48:00 | thanks piroska, I've been wondering about online purchases. I never select the save bank/card info option except for Zip or Afterpay only because you have to give them your bank details for the auto debit payments. Most of my online purchases are from major retailers or game purchases through Steam or GOG. If it is a fraud thing it looks like my bank will reimburse. Will also follow this up with YouTube. Full details aren't showing on my online bank transaction, it just shows Google YouTube Supe..... It seems YouTube has Super Sticker and Super Chat whereby viewers pay to pin comments to live streams etc but as 1101 posted it may be relevent or not. Google and YouTube shouldn't have my bank details. | bellbird (6169) | |
2021-12-20 07:29:00 | Someone/family may have incurred some charges for a premium YouTube service Yeah, I'd look here first. Any kids / teens in the household? I was once in a snail pace line at the ASB, and could overhear a conversation at the counter, whereby mysterious withdrawls were showing on a statement, and the bank staff were pretty much saying it was someone in the home, and that it happens all the time (in this case it was use of the persons EFTPOS card and PIN).
