491067 2006-10-13 04:19:00 Mostly when I run a Seagate Seatools desktop diagnostic program, I get these errors:

File Structure Test Result:

Failed with critical Errors

The following errors were found while scanning the volume:
- One or more errors were found in the index
- One or more errors were found in metadata file records
- Other errors were found

In general, does this indicate that a reformat/re-install is needed or are there deeper problems that I need to look for?

Thank you

491068 2006-10-13 04:50:00 Seatools always says filesystem error no matter what drive or computer I run it on Greven (91)
491069 2006-10-13 07:11:00 Is there an alernative way to test the hard drive, file structures...?
It seems that Seagate gives false negitives?

491070 2006-10-13 08:11:00 Seatools is good for checking the actual disk. I just use checkdisk for filesystem checks Greven (91)
