491349 2006-10-16 04:23:00 Perhaps Uncle Bill has decided that "US" ::= "World". :rolleyes:The weird thing is that the other PC on the network has everything defaulting OK, and I can't see any differences in settings. Tony (4941)
491350 2006-10-16 04:45:00 It might be interesting to use the search in REGEDIT to look for "A4" in the registry of the computer which does things correctly. If the search is successful, a corresponding search for "letter" in the one which doesn't do what you want might give you something to change. I don't know if this is going to work, but it will do no harm to look. ;) Graham L (2)
491351 2006-10-25 13:36:00 Check in REGIONAL and LANGUAGE OPTIONS. Under Regional Options tab select Customize and check to see if Measurement System is set to METRIC.

I had similar problem except it was defaulting to A4 when I wanted Letter and this worked for me.

~SteveA very good suggestion, but alas it is set to Metric.

491353 2006-10-25 19:27:00 It might be interesting to use the search in REGEDIT to look for "A4" in the registry of the computer which does things correctly. That was a good idea. Unfortunately, like all the others, it hasn't worked. I can't find any registry differences of that nature between the two machines.  Tony (4941)
491354 2006-11-03 04:08:00 I have this problem in a windows 2003 environment with XP clients and IP based lexmark printers.
It seems to be random what paper it chooses.
All users use the same read only mandatory profile with regional settings all set to AU (yes with metric).
All PC images have regional settings set to AU (yes with metric).
All servers have regional settings set to AU (yes with metric).
All printers have all paper size options set to A4.
All printers are loaded at login via a VBS file and are not stored due to the nature of the mandatory profile.

Yet seemingly 50% of the time when a user logs in the default size is Letter.
I believe this is a problem with windows and would like to see any real fixes for this issue.

Fortunately most of our printers will convert between A4/Letter without complaining but a few display the message "Please press Select to continue" and this seems to be too much for a lot of users waiting for print jobs.

And just because I know someone will ask we do have two different models and one simply doesn't have the option to convert sizes automatically.

So does anyone have a real solution for this problem?
