491616 2006-10-15 05:01:00 Here is the situation . . .

I currently have 2 7900gt's . One crapped out on me and I RMA'd it . While I was looking around on Newegg I saw the 7950gt's with passive cooling . Now being impulsive, and not too patient I bought 2 .

Now here is the trouble (maybe) . I have a Thermaltake Armor Jr . case, with a Swiftech H20-120 Premium water cooling kit with a CPU and Chipet block on a A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard . After looking for 2 days now with pictures of these 7950gt's and trying to decide if they will fit, and not block my hoses from my chipset cooler . . . I am going crazy .

Anyone have ANY idea? I cant find spec's on the sizes of the heatsinks on these . Also . . . would a hose resting on the heatsink be REALLY bad?

Any advice would be MORE than apprciated, because I still have time to cancel my order heh .

Although I would guess they aren't any bigger than the 7900s.
Yes I would say a hose on the heatsink would be bad.

Graphics cards get hot. Melted hoses and water and electronics would be a bad experiment. And void your warranty.

I also wouldn't trust fanless cooling on a graphics card....
And I don't think a 7950 is much of a jump from a 7900. Why not just wait for your RMA then save and buy new graphics cards later when there is a real difference to be gained.

Like DX10 type cards....

491618 2006-10-15 19:32:00 Hmmm...that is true. But the 7950's with passive cooling have had great reviews. I guess the fact that are SILENT is very attractive.

I hate waiting I guess :). And from what I have read and heard about it will be at LEAST 3-4 weeks to get the correct product back.

Thanks for the advice, but still not sure what to do.

The thing with reviews is that they report on what they found during testing.
How long did testing last? A day? A week? A month? A year?

It doesn't tell you anything about reliabilty and I wouldn't trust fanless long term.
Be patient......play a game meantime to calm your nerves....

491620 2006-10-16 02:21:00 Why don't you cancel the order untilll you find some information or cancel and wait for your RMAed one to return.

The difference between the old and new cards are very little unless you get more RAM with the new ones but I can not justify the reason to get these cards now, as pctek said, why not wait for DX10? instead of wasting all that money for a little increase.
