491422 2006-10-14 22:55:00 1. Is it ok to delete old ref files of antivirus/spyware/adaware?
(My my pc does a search for unneccesary files they come up).

2. Without adding hardware is there a way to get your PC running as good as it possibly go?

Dont know, dont use Adaware.

Defrag it when u notice it going slow, Use something like ccleaner to get rid of the crap on it, dont download warez, dont go to warez sites, dont go to any sites that may install nasties on the system.

Install an AV program and a firewall, to be safe. Just dont get too carried away with installing too many of either.

Depending on what u mean exactly, if your system is slow now (depending on what you want to do), doing any of the above may not do anything at all.

Unless u add more hardware (ie: ram). Get a faster CPU.

491424 2006-10-14 23:14:00 Thanks for the speedy reply speedy, for question 2, I was thinking more along the lines of having your PC at its best performance, like mine runs ok, I defrag on a regular basis and scan disk etc, is there other things I can do to keep it or get it to its peak performance level?

I also put in a PCbooster but I dont see any difference except in menu speeds. Is that about normal?

491425 2006-10-14 23:24:00 Not that I can think of.

I spose getting rid of dust / giving it a clean often will help.

So, it doesnt blow up / catch on fire, or come to a sudden halt.

While you're using it.

Like I took the CPU fan etc off these the other week to clean them, as the fins on the heatsink can get clogged up with dust etc. And the fans were covered in dust. Which isn't too healthy. I suppose it doesnt help when the cases are black.

I woudnt bother with programs that say they can speed things up. Most dont.

I would also check google or yahoo, if u decide to download / install a program that says it does everything, and its free.

It maybe free, but then there's usually a reason why it's free (it installs spyware, its fake, or it doesnt do anything at all).

Like these programs that say they can remove every kind of spyware/malware . (rogue programs)

They detect spyware/malware that dont even exist on your system, just so u think u have something, so you'll buy the program.
