491386 2006-10-14 17:44:00 If you actually have no connection problems then it's likely Snorton's is screwed up . . . likely the best thing because now you can investigate something that doesn't let the wheels fall off all the time .

If you want true internet peace of mind (another unlikelyhood with Windows . . . not a bash . . . just the truth), you should move on to something that really works .

There are a lot of opinions here . . . you can get them all ad-nauseum, if you SEARCH this site for security info and ideas .

Almost any other security program is better . . . some more or less than others . . . and here's the kick: they are free!

FYI: I use Windows XP Pro and have a few security devices running as a necessity . . . and you will too . Just don't trust any one program to do it all . . . they can't .

Norton/Symantec?McAfee etc are all bloat-monsters :yuck: and use too much of your resourses anyway .

Stay tuned if you want to get the 411 on what you should be using . Just ask: You will be informed . . . . . . . :D

491387 2006-10-14 18:29:00 Was this a Live Update error message? If so, have a look here: Error: "LiveUpdate was unable to install any of the 1 updates that you selected . . . 491388 2006-10-14 20:03:00 For free antivirus, I reccomend AntiVir, found at free-av.com. This is much better than Norton's. Only one negative is that it pops up an 800x600 pixel window when updating. pcuser42 (130)

Maybe a little paranoid here . . . but as you know most viruses and malware actually start their mischief when you reboot your system after it gets infected .

Not trying to scare you, but I would seriously . . . . . . . . . SERIOUSLY turn off SYSTEM RESTORE and reboot in Safe Mode and run whatever passes for your security scan and see what results you get .

I never run system restore . . . but I have a full-install XP-Pro CD-Rom (and others) to back me up . . . but if you don't have a copy of either a repair cd or a full install Windows disc . . . I'd be sure to get one ASAP!

But . . . before you do anything . . . run Belarc Adviser ( . belarc . com/free_download . html" target="_blank">www . belarc . com) and print out a copy for those pesky little things like licenses and program permissions before you screw things up .

Just for kicks and giggles, this is the system I run . . . and they all play well together and don't step on each other's toes nor do they report each other as spyware .
