492273 2006-10-17 22:03:00 Can anyone tell me how to turn off the Anti Virus check when you open a new Workbook/Worksheet on XL?

When I open a new workbook or worksheet everything stops with a message “requesting virus scan” which is totally unnecessary.

I seem to recall having seen this problem before but I think it was with NAV and you just turned off the Office Plug-in.

However, in this case we have XP pro – Office XP 2003 XL ver. 11 – AVG 7.3

I had to set it to Min just to be able to run the Macros' on other Workbooks without approving every one.

All I want to do is open a new workbook without waiting for the virus test to finish. :groan:

492276 2006-10-18 05:01:00 Apparently you need to reinstall AVG and then during installation choose the Remove/Add components option and follow the wizard and when you get to the Office plugin, deselect it.

Compliments of the AVG forum. :)
