492108 2006-10-17 04:55:00 I had Asus mobo with 1.2 GHz Athlon CPU. I replaced it with Athlon 750 MHz CPU. At first it worked but later green LED of the PSU started to blink and went off. Screen was black but fans worked. Suspected PSU failure, but that PSU works ok on other PC.
Can there be something with the new PCU being overclocked?
Any ideas?

Thanks

Why didnt u just continue from the PSU post? Since theyre related?

Are there any switches on the mobo that need to be changed if u changed the CPU?

I doubt the new CPU would be overclocked if it was lower than the first CPU . Why did u change it anyway?

492113 2006-10-17 09:03:00 The Mobo is AOpen AK73.
I gave my faster CPU to a friend so she can use Skype Video conferencing since SKYPe recomends Min 1GHz CPU. And I took her's 750MHz one, being a stupid gentelmen what I am.:nerd:

492115 2006-10-22 15:39:00 Hi guys!
Solved the problem! Motherboard was ok . IT was non boot problem . The answer was in the mobo manual . Had to clear CMOS by using onboard jumper . after that PC booted up and gave access to BIOS . Then had to set right multipliers for the new CPU , in the Bios .

My understanding is that I should have reset Bios when I had first booted up PC after installing CPU with lower frequency . The original CPU was 1 . 2 GHz and new one-750MHz . This corrupted CMOS .
Cheers!

Noooooo........actually the most likely problem was/is that the bus speeds were incorrectly set for that lower speed cpu......as evidenced by :

actually nope it didn't 'corrupt the cmos' all it did was try to run the cpu at a bus speed that it couldn't support so it wouldn't run.....resetting the cmos simply put it back to its basic defaults and thus it ran the cpu successfully..
