492069 2006-10-17 03:13:00 Running Windoze XP with latest updates.
2 HDD
80gb and 20gb all software is on the smaller HDD which has 25% available.
Have had some problems for a while with proggrammes loading very slowly,
today tried saving some information in my calender on MS Outlook (I am running Office XP Proffessional) and I get the following message:

"Out of memory or system resources, close some windows or resources and try again"

Needless to say I only have the one window/programme running.

Have defragged and done all the other obvious things but still no joy.

I run AVG daily with Updates.

Any clues??

Regards PP

no........if you check taskmanager you'll see theres LOTS of stuff running ......how many things od you have in the system tray, lower RH side by the clock.....could be one of those programs stuffing things up......clik start/run and type in msconfig then goto the startup tab and Untick everything except systray and explorer if they're listed.......then try doing something .....if it works then go back to msconfig and start ticking things one at a time till the problem reappears

does anyone else find the pun created by typo (or deliberate typo)

you have not enough RAM. how much do you have? you want atleast 512MB for smooth operation. 256 may scrape by in some applications, but using MS software is a bad idea if you have little ram.

do you have any anti spy/adware software? spyware and adware can fill up ram easily. i recommend Spybot and Adaware. AVG is good, norton would be another cause for RAM shortage.

MSN live messenger eats ram too, try right clicking it's icon by the clock and clicking exit to free up 26MB, or 14 for older versions. it can, like most software, be prevented from starting at startup.

what are the other machine specs (CPU speed, most importantly). it may be time for an upgrade ;)
