Thanks for your reply. I will bite the bullet and delete all those offending items. Always hesitant to do such things as I dont wont any problems after hitting the delete button. Eddie and I have always respected your advice in the past and I am sure you wouldnt lead us astray this time ;)

I know Eddie deleted his last night and he is alive this morning so thats a good sign.

492417 2006-10-20 00:56:00 Why dont u just use ccleaner.

CCleaner is another of these money grabbers. I downloaded and ran their trial version. It told me I had umteen hundreds of faults and if I sent them millions of dollars they would fix them all for me.
I then ran registry mechanic and it found less than half of the faults that ccl.
did. And they wanted a small fortune to fix them.

I class registry cleaners with modem accellerators and "I'll make you a millionaire" letters from Nigeria.

492418 2006-10-20 01:34:00 Hi JJJJJ,
Methinks you have downloaded CCleaner pro whereas the standard "personal use only" is free.
I have used both of these programs for some years and as I told Speedy Gonzales they "clean out" different files- without a shadow of a doubt.
Thanks to FoxyMX I, and Speedy 38 have cleaned out - in Smithie's case around 600 obsolete files , within the last 12 hours or so.

492419 2006-10-20 06:47:00 I dont think there is a Pro version of ccleaner.

I maybe wrong, but I've never seen it. And I've never seen a trial of it either.

I dont think you're talking about ccleaner Jack. Its either something new or a dud program you're using whatever it is.

Download from here (fileforum.betanews.com). The Latest User Reviews comments make interesting reading.

492422 2006-11-19 20:23:00 Hi folks and in particular FoxyMX

I ran another scan this morning of Reg Seeker, and as suggested by Foxy I only deleted the green entries.

Just curious, there were nearly 200 red enteries - what is the reason for suggesting not to delete those as most are "Extension not used" or "Invalid entries"

A lot of registry entrys are recreated after they are deleted. usually after a reboot or restarting IExplorer. So just delete them. I have been using RegSeeker for several years and I have always deleted everything after each scan, so far no problems. Heres a tip. As long as your comp is going OK delete all reg backups before each scan so that the only backups are the latest ones.:)

Thanks for your reply. Okay, in future I will delete everything after each scan. Also thanks for your tip about deleting backups before each scan.
