| 492972 | 2006-10-20 21:06:00 | Saturday, 21 October 2006 09:57:53:a.m. Hi all, I have an old 486 with IE 5.0 and Outlook Express 5.5 installed that I use to browse about once a week. I am going to update to IE 6. When I updated from IE 4 and Outlook Express 4? I remember that after that I could not read my old messages in the then new Outlook Express 5.5 and I had to follow a routine which enabled me to "get the messages read" with 5.5?? I can't remeber now how I did that. My question is if I upgrade IE 5.0 and Outlook Express 5.5 to IE 6 and Outlook Express 6, will the new Outlook Express 6 read the old 5.5 messages or what should I do if "another routine" is required?? Your help appreciated. Thanks, Peter M |

| 492973 | 2006-10-20 21:25:00 | Not brilliant at computer stuff myself Peter and I've never worried about keeping old messages but couldn't you just save the old ones to a folder then it wouldn't matter if they went a.w.o.l when you installed IE 6 etc? | Clod (7853) | ||

| 492975 | 2006-10-21 02:02:00 | why update? firstly you require 98 or better for IE6. win98 on a 486 with IE6 is a waste of time. it runs to slow to be of use. concidering there is heaps of faster specs pc's (in perfect working order) being thrown out it would be best to upgrade the whole pc. |
