492733 2006-10-19 19:24:00 At present I'm running the free version of AVG. The trouble is it does it's scan at 8am. I'd prefer it at, say, 2am - when I definitely won't be using the computer. I can only reset the time if I purchase the for sale version. If I have to spend money then I want a good one. Mind you free is better, but there's probably some crippling factor with these.
I used to use Nortons, but their annual subscription, in my opinion, was just too much; particularly for a product that I felt was probably no better than the freebies in it's performance, was huge & resource hungry and insinuated itself into all the nooks & crannies.
Anyone have any suggestions? I guess true value for money is what I'm after.

just change the time in "scheduaer". its the "user test" that you can only do in the pro ver.

492737 2006-10-19 20:54:00 Thanks everyone.
I think I'll look at NOD32.
Frees fine. But as they say "you only get what you pay for" and mostly that is a fact.

492738 2006-10-19 21:23:00 Yes, I rang my PC store about an hour ago and asked them to buy me Nod32.

Chillisoft are the NZ contact to either buy online or from a reseller. Phone no is 09 309 3281

492739 2006-10-19 22:26:00 Thanks Misty.
I've actually just downloaded the 30 day trial version.
Installed really easy and fast.
I'll probably just give it a few days then purchase.

492741 2006-10-27 00:06:00 Now that I've bought Nod32 today and run it, I want to copy the scanning log to ask members a question. The question is why are there 32 approx files that are locked ? Also why are there two files where access denied ? This is not the fault of Nod32 but may, or may not, be a worry for me.

How can I copy the scanning log please ? I did do a shift/print screen and put onto a Word page but the results are not clear. Also I cannot highlight and copy because it will be a "picture" presumably ?

492742 2006-10-27 00:33:00 The 2 files I always get that are locked are hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys. This is normal.
You will also get some files that say Access denied usually if they are system files. Don't think there is anything you can do about this.

To copy the scan log I just open the log then right-click and select Copy all then paste wherever you want, notepad, word etc
