| 492655 | 2006-10-19 07:37:00 | Wikipedia article on interleaving (en.wikipedia.org). Basically it is supposed to make your ADSL connection more stable but the downside is that latency increases. I've heard that being able to turn it off (which is controlled on the Telcom exchange side) will drop your ping times in games by about 40 ms. This excites gamers greatly and also for stuff such as VOIP. Telecom used to have it turned off (if I remember correctly) and people are suspicious that they turned it on to degrade stuff such as VOIP. Anyway the freedom to turn it off is all good. |
