| 492491 | 2006-10-18 23:18:00 | When I right click a jpeg file or photo, an option appears to RESIZE the photo which gives 4 options. This is great for emailing photos, especially if the sender or receiver does not have high speed internet. I installed a program in order to get this feature (right click, resize) but I forgot which program - is it Tweak UI or Powertoys? I want to send this program to two of my friends. Thanks. |

| 492495 | 2006-10-19 08:44:00 | Much as the WinXP resizer is handy, VSO Image Resizer (www.vso-software.fr) is way better. It is integrated into the Windows explorer shell so you just right click on your pictures as with the WinXP resizer but you get a lot more flexibility. Once it is set up to your preferences it is virtually just a one or two click process to resize images exactly how you want them. It's a real gem of an app. :cool: | FoxyMX (5) | ||

Have not tried it yet but unlike the Powertoy resizer, there are not just a few preset sizes but custom, user-selected sizes. The largest Powertoy image size is a bit too small so with VSO I can choose an image that will fill the screen but will still be much smaller than a 2 mp jpeg straight from a camera. BTW, since the VSO page says "download a trial copy" (or similar wording), I thought it was only free to use for a limited time. Looking closer I saw that it is freeware. |

| 492499 | 2006-10-20 00:44:00 | Steve: I also like the ability to choose custom sizes and it's great being able to set it all up how you want it and check the "Save as default" button to keep those settings . This is what I did on the other computer for the Trade Me addicts who use it all the time . Their resized photos are automatically sent to their TradeMe folder so that the originals aren't overwritten - very handy . When I first saw the advert for this program I initially thought "Why the heck do we need this when FastStone and Irfanview image viewers already do the job wonderfully" but curiosity got the better of me and I had to have a look . It was virtually love at first sight and, as they say, the rest is history . :p Another little freeware gem you guys might be interested in is JPEGCrops . I think it was Bazza who introducted me to that one and it too is one of my essential favourite programs .
