Because Vista is not that secure for spywares and viruses. And you can uninstall it only once. |

| 492681 | 2006-10-22 06:22:00 | I used to be a die hard W98 user, until I got XP on new computer a few months ago. Its a whole new world with no more slow downs and lock ups. My view now is you would have to be a tosser to use software 8 yrs old. As far as getting only 1 reinstall with Vista is, get over it. It problay cost as much as a small countries gdp to develop it. They will need to sell heaps of the software to pay the development costs back. A few months huh. Give it a bit longer. Its a bloated pig. You'll notice slowdowns alright. Especially if you have everything default, like System Restore for instance. And yes, it does crash occasionally too. Sometimes to a point beyond repair. As for Vista costing heaps to develop, hardly, MS hasn't thrown the O/S out the window and started from scratch. Its just another tweak, more lockdowns, more DRM, more big brother, more outrageous claims. You ever thought exactly why Bill Gates is the richest person ever? Not because he put all the earnings back into develoment.... And there are still plenty of people around with elderly but perfectly working PCs that don't have the hardware to run XP, so why on earth would they want to rush out, buy it and install it? For the uses their PCs get, Win98 is perfectly adequate. And the 1 reinstall is for RETAIL versions of Vista, onto ANOTHER PC, not onto the same PC. Is it clear now? Images are not O/S installs, they are images of the hard drive, therefore its not relevant to this confusion... |
