Anyway, I am using Slingshot's default DNS addresses, and still having no problems. It might be location specific.

Mike.

I haven't had any problems since I posted the problem, but will change the DNS if it happens again. It wasn't just the connection being terminated, it was also some website that stopped loading, including some international websites, while others worked perfectly. Xtras new plans do look very nice, so it may make sense to switch to them, or investigate going to Telstras cable, which is cheaper than what slingshot offers, at $50 for 10GB and a 10mb connection, which is far better than ADSL

492757 2006-10-21 01:31:00 I'm with Xtra but last night and today i've been getting random disconnections of my ADSL.

maybe something to do with the speed upgrades happening soon?

492758 2006-10-22 04:55:00 I think it is more a case of overselling the sevice, and too many users connected to each exchnage and not enough equipment to cope. rogerp (6864)
492759 2006-10-22 09:08:00 I been on slingshot for about 5 months now. No problems ever. rob_on_guitar (4196)

Mike.I take that back now :( My connection to Slingshot went down when it mattered on Monday night - wifey was furious! She was bidding on something on trademe when it went down, with 6 minutes to go on the auction. The bid she was about to make was higher than the winning bid, so she feels that she lost it because of Slingshot going down :(

Slingshot's network status page says the problem is due to be resolved by October 18 ;)

Mike.
