493594 2006-10-24 06:59:00 I need to buy some more white printable DVDs to use/record. What brands are people buying (and from where) at the moment?

I see some positive comment about TDK DVDs (available from the Warehouse (but not the white printable ones). Ascent have white printable Imation. Others have commented positively about Princo (also white printable and available from Ascent).

As always TIA - and I'm off to bed soon. I know, I know- it is early, but I like to read in bed, and 6am comes around pretty jolly quickly!

Cheers :)

493596 2006-10-24 07:14:00 Thanks - I'll have a poke around there. The last ones I bought were Mitsubishi (?sp) from Dick Smiths, but I must have got them on a 'special' - I see they are about $19 odd for 20 at the moment. R.M. (561)
493597 2006-10-24 07:18:00 I've had very good experiences with Princo.

A friend of mine did a big copying job recently with Princo disks, and found only one dud (where the disk was actually delaminating). Otherwise all were good.

On checking their website just now, I see it is $20 for 10!:(

493599 2006-10-24 07:22:00 I used Imation 4.7GB, 16X, about 70 cents each, happy with the quality. developer (4447)
493600 2006-10-24 09:05:00 I've tried the DSE +R 4.7G printable (CMC, appear to be same as Imation) and DSE +R 4.7G standard (Infomedia). Both appear OK on initial verify check however the CMC burn quality got much worse after 3/4 capacity. Some forums claim most CMC types don't last that well. Verbatim supposedly have a better Mitsubishi dye type that lasts better, $1 for printable. PaulD (232)
493601 2006-10-24 09:43:00 i use to use princo ones now i use verbatim
i don't print on them though..

but like..the princo ones seems all good after you burn it
but after you leave it for a while it seems to 'age' faster than verbatim one
i used nero's CD-DVD Speed to check the discs and princo's one had way more errors after storage

then again..it still reads fine..
but i guess i won't burn ultra important data on it..if i had any

493602 2006-10-24 12:36:00 Ive tried a lot, princo, CMC, TDK, Imation, DSE, BenQ, Verbatim, and honestly it depends on your burner! Some prefer different media.
Ive said it before, but I'll say it again ;) My older Optorite DD-0201 drive LOVED the cheap media like Princo was back in the day (real cheap) but didnt burn so well with Imation.
Bought a TS-H552 and it wouldnt touch princo but loved the CMC media!

Lately, in the last 6-9 months, Ive noticed the CMC media and Princo media quality seems to be marginally better (I play on picky recorders). Upgrading your firmware always helps... but I would certainly recommend CMC or Princo. Its only $20 for a huge spindle, its not like you're forking out big $$ if they dont work out ;)
