493614 2006-10-26 14:25:00 I don't print on any of them but I currently have only two brands, Princo, funnily enough, and Verbatim. If I am copying music I use the Princo as am not too worried about an occasion failure. However if I am backing up my data then I use Verbatim because I do not want to take any chances that there might be a failure of a particular disc (this is despite that I also image on an external drive with Acronis - obsessive huh !!?)

PS - I know that this does not specifically answer your particular question ;)

493615 2006-10-26 18:18:00 Verbatim - out of a 50x spindle only had one dud.

As in available from Ascent? Or where do you get yours?
Thanks. :)

493616 2006-10-26 18:42:00 Go for archival DVDs and CDRs..

Hi Paul - sorry for being a bit thick, but could you give me a few details? Archival - what brand, any identifying things I should know, from where, and about how much?

Thanks for your patience - in anticipation! :)

Cheers

For a starter you could look thru these links.

493620 2006-10-26 21:17:00 Super Zero from PBTech.co.nz (Hamilton and Auck). $29 for a 50 spindle. Never had a failure. Princo ok but they don't print right to the centre and I had at least 2 failures per spindle.
I had opposite experience with this brand (from same store) - just finished 50X spindle with about 10 failures.

493623 2006-10-27 02:46:00 Whats the point of having CDs or DVDs that you expect to be able to read in twenty years time? We most likely will have moved on to yet another type of media and there won't be any cd or dvd readers around to read them with, the software will be obsolete and you should have moved all your data onto whatever is current then. 1st rule of technology hardware - buy for now, tomorrow it will be cheaper but next week it'll be obsolete!

You might not be concerned but I would jolly well hope to be able to view my photos saved on DVDs in 10 or 20 years time just as I would expect to be able to view the same photos in a photo album.
