| 493590 | 2006-10-24 07:19:00 | I am planning to upgrade a PC from Win 2K to XP Pro and was wondering if I will lose data, Desktop settings etc. The PC is networked to a SB Server, so I presume these settings will need to be re set after the change? Any suggestions or advice will be appreciated |

| 493591 | 2006-10-24 16:44:00 | hm........why not partition it and install xp to the 2nd partition it'll then dual boot...... or if that dont suit.....perhaps just try an 'over the top' install of xp and that may indeed overwrite the existing 2k and you'll upgrade it that way.....backup first of course... |

Install Windows XP as usual, and use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. Then link a virtual hard drive to a physical one and boot. Do an over the top install of XP from there. | pcuser42 (130) | ||
