494437 2006-10-26 06:13:00 I have windows XP Professional and office 2003 installed. Why does microsoft ask me to download up dates and then won't let me download them? Siobhan (6842)
494438 2006-10-26 06:21:00 Did u go here (update.microsoft.com)

Whats it say when u try and download (or install) the updates?

Or are u downloading them from within the update window / option that appears on the taskbar?

494439 2006-10-26 07:59:00 Iwent to "here" and it checked for up-dates and nothing happened.

I don't have the exact entry but it said it could not download the up-dates.

Or are u downloading them from within the update window / option that appears on the taskbar? Yes.

494440 2006-10-26 08:16:00 And when u clicked on here, were u using IE? Not Opera or Firefox?

If u were using IE and u havent been to Windowsupdate till now, did a message appear in IE's menu, saying click on this to download an activex component or something?

So when u went to the Windowsupdate site, the updates did appear after u checked for updates?

And thats when it said you cant download the updates??

Or did it stop while it was checking for updates, and say you cant download the updates?

Look, if MS won't let you have them, it is for sound (to MS) reasons. Or not.

I got on to Upate . It listed the updates I should get . I agreed . Then, after a while, up came the message "Updates were unable to be successfully installed"
