494131 2006-10-26 22:43:00 Why do i feel that traffic shaping is in effect right now, when im clearly out of peak times?!

It is, but wait theres more If you play online games like City of Villains or WoW forget about it because international pings are ranging between 228-358ms which makes online gaming near on impossible this is pissing me off :angry

Go Large FTL

494132 2006-10-26 22:59:00 wow after updating to the go large plan i log into my router and now i'm getting a downstream of 8000kbps and upstream of 160kbps.

in the nzdsl speedtest im get a download speed of 3946kbps and upload speed of 127kbps

looks like the go large speed increase is working for me a day after i changed to it.

494133 2006-10-26 23:40:00 I just changed over to the GoLarge plan yesterday:

NZDSL: download: 1977 kbps
upload: 130 kbps

ROUTER: downstream: 7616 kbps at 10.0dB
upstream: 160 kbps at 20.0dB

One thing I did notice that when downloading a torrent last night off peak times it went slower than usual, approx 20KBps. And strangely at 12:00 lunch time today it speeded up to 50KBps when it should be going slower then????
Meh, maybe just a coincidence.

494134 2006-10-27 00:07:00 ^^Depends who you download from. Some people provide more upload for you to download then others. trinsic (6945)
494135 2006-10-27 01:18:00 they have done something with torrents...
no matter the time of day

only reason im on go large is because i DL a lot of torrents
seems pointless for me to have a 7.6M/bit connection if i cant use it for what i want

494136 2006-10-27 01:57:00 Hey guys,
I just tried another popular torrent and got it downloading at 250 KBps peak, and 230 average so I'm thinking this torrent stuff is just my imagination. Well thats 2000 Mbit which is surprising for telecom. i mean thats nearly 30% of my theoretical maximum.

On another note, ive been noticing the internet and downloads have been cutting out for say a minute every 20 minutes or so, disconnecting the skype calls as well, its really annoying, has anyone else got this problem?

494137 2006-10-27 02:15:00 Well still no change for me yet, rebooted modem but still getting a slow 1.3Mbps down and 131kbps up.

I had no expectation that things would improve, especially after the last so-called upgrade we were apparently given.

The saga continues I guess.

cheers
