Sorry about the delay in replying, the forum was doing loopy things over the weekend, so i left it till today to reply

for labeling my images i have decided to label them using a combination of the date and a random number

so the images will look something like this

3010069481.jpg

So I'll use code similar to the below
$prefix = ((date("mdy")).(rand(100, 500)))
$new_image_name = $prefix.$index.'.jpg';
