494211 2006-11-04 00:20:00 i am just wondering what is wrong with the plan , has it decreased your speed , are you close to the exchange , is it because its dropping people into the naughty group or what ever it is , Just curious on all this.

I think that is the question everyone wants the answer to, but Telecom are refusing to say. The rumour is that the 125.236.xxx.xxx IP address range is for the naughty boys, into which everyone has been put. It is also interesting that the allocated IP address seems to change fairly frequently as compared to when on the Adventure plan when it could last for days on end.

Just for a few hours one day in the week, we had an IP address in the range 219.89.xxx.xxx and speeds both national and international, well at least for me were similar to your speeds, ie 3574Kbps on Xtra speed test and 2389Kbps on Speakeasy. But that only lasted a few hours until we were switched back onto 125.236.xxx.xxx range.

When I say "we", I mean me plus others saying the same more or less on Geekzone and on PressF1.

Edit: distance from exchange, I dont know exactly, but there is a roadside cabinet 500metres away in one direction, and another 900 metres away at the other end of the road.
My modem reports connecting at 5920Kbps, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less, but generally over 1000Kbps more than when on adventure.

494213 2006-11-04 20:00:00 I am just wondering if its worth looking at the 79.95 plan then , its a jump of $20 a month to what i am on at the moment but i would get full upload speed which i would find very handy as i own a website and i am constantly working on it and would be so so much faster being able to work on things via ftp at more than the average of 160kbps i currently get , also an extra 5 gig of data which i may or may not use , dout that i would go over that as 15gig would be more than enough for me. Trouble is if i change over to it am i going to get a speed increase or am i going to drop in speed. I could always ask them to note in my file that if my speed decreases then i am to go back on the plan i am on at the moment. Well just a thought anyway.

Note : I am just wondering if the connection i am currently getting via my router is the new speed at the exchange or would not notice a higher connection until plan is changed over. I remember when when went over to the 3.5 that i noticed the connection speed had gone up but i could not use it until my billing plan rolled over.

494216 2006-11-04 22:50:00 At first, speeds were brilliant (Go Large). Now, over the last few days, downstream speeds have dropped to around 300kbits/sec, with a maximum of about 500kbits/sec. I phoned them and now they're getting me to test on the jetstreamgames user id as well - no change in the speed. I used to get around 2.2mbits/sec - that's as fast as the line can handle. Erayd (23)

That's what gets up my nose, what on earth do they think will be achieved by getting you to do speed tests, it's just fobbing you off for a while.

They know they have stuffed up, they know that Go Large is not working, I wish they would just come clean.

For interest, a jetstreamgames test just gave me 151Kbps download speed :(

That will be yet another screen capture I will be flooding them with :)
