| 494161 | 2006-10-27 23:13:00 | so, I know I'm going ot sound like the loser in the group here, but Xtra offered me AdSL as a broadband connection, for $40 a month qith a 1GB cap before it hits dial-up speed. I've got a norrible feeling now that I look at these speeds that I'm geting ripped off like the pants from a member of ManPower Australia... What can I do to get real roadband?- A. upgrade plans with a higher bandwidth cap B. as Overdrive_5000 said move out of NZ or move where telstraclear Cable is. Where in NZ are you? JdwPom? |

I've got a horrible feeling now that I look at these speeds that I'm geting ripped off like the pants from a member of ManPower Australia... What can I do to get real broadband?- So what speeds are you getting? You shouldn't feel ripped off at $40 either! I was an early adopter and wanted full speed up and down. That has been costing me $70 per month with a 1GB cap but no throttling. I'm not sure what year DSL was introduced but I have been paying that price for 5-6 years or more because there was no other full-speed option on offer. I have no idea what the per MB price was for going over my cap either because I only ever did it twice in the past, and then by a piffling 30-40 MB, but I'm about to find out. In the last week before the change to a 2GB cap I ran 700MB over my limit due to unusual business requirements. I was sending bucketloads of data overseas and downloading equivalent amounts. | 494166 | 2006-10-28 01:50:00 | Well the rumor going round on the internets is that there is a fault with to Go Large and everyone is getting put into the leechers pool. whether or not this is true could be another story | Overdrive_5000 (4950) | ||
| 494167 | 2006-10-28 01:57:00 | when i do a speed test on the nzdsl site, i get decent results. however when i do a test on a US server, i get 64k results. definatley something fishy. its not even peak hours |

| 494168 | 2006-10-28 02:06:00 | Hmmm well I don't know what to make of it yet as it's early day's but just did a speed test on speednet.net and got 4166 / 710 where as before with diff ISP's i always got 3.4/3.5 and around 500 up ... maybe it might take a few weeks for the full speed to kick in? Some guy told me at Xtra that I will go faster but might take a few weeks for it all to kick in for everyone as they are rolling it out bit by bit as he said if they UNLESH it all straight away the system would fall over, true? who know's. | GhostBuster (10141) | ||

Also notice the IP addresses I am getting are now 125.xxx.xxx.xxx, is that the leechers pool range , maybe ?? Previously were 222 or 219. |

| 494170 | 2006-10-30 20:31:00 | First day or 2 with the new plan, speed up by about 400 to around 3800kbps. Now I seldom break 3000 at any time of day. So Unleashed and unlimited = slower for me. Time to save some money & drop back a plan perhaps. Pretty annoying when the service as advertised is complete Bullsh!t in practice. |
