495282 2006-10-31 06:56:00 I gave up on Ihug awhile ago, even on my 2 MB plan the speeds before the new plans had dropped , I used to be solid on speed. They fobbed me off so I have since (after waiting for 1 hour for Ihug to pick up the phone) changed to Xtra again. IHUG has turned to crap for me. They shape when the CSR say they don't, basically they have no idea what they are doing.

Hope Vodafone picks them up but meh bye to IHUG.

Nope, sorry .

We Have a telecom green box outside the house .

That not it ;), that’s just a box that splits the main phone cable from the exchange for the houses in your street .

495285 2006-10-31 15:02:00 No, that isn't true - Telecom has changed things over time. It depends on your plan and how Telecom sets up the exchange (or maybe your modem isn't reporting the connect speed correctly).

More likely depends on your modem in what it reports. Mine reports the true line speed both ways at all times. Not the connection speeds so I know how well my line will do if it ever really gets going.

495286 2006-10-31 19:58:00 Speedtest . net test now shows 5435 down and 656 up .

On the old 3 . 5 / 512 plan it would be about 3000 down and 450 up .

495287 2006-11-01 05:22:00 Hmm . . . According to the accounts page I have been switched to the new plan but I haven't seen an email back from iHug actually confirming the switch/speed increase . . .

As it stands I am connecting at 7616/160 and have been for some time but atm my downstream is quite consistent at 2 . 2mbps - I'm pretty sure I'm only about 600m from the exchange . . .

Hope it gets better - atm I'm finally back up to the speed I had on the 2mb plan  (when I went up to the 3 . 5mb plan my speed went down drastically) . . .

*yawn*

oh - btw I had the same experience as CYaBro regarding the ruoter connection speeds changing as my plans changed .

495288 2006-11-01 06:27:00 What I have seen recently though is my max data rates changing to suit the time of day it is this has happened for month now but since the anouncements of full speed connections it is changing almost hourly. telecom blame my ISP and my ISP-Ihug blame telecom so personally I think its all a have.

I could post pages of this crap but you can see the gist. BTW I am 50 meters from the exchange and while my max data rate is 76** /7** or similar I only ever connect down at a max of 4 mbps

495289 2006-11-01 10:50:00 Telecom switched me to a faster speed today. My modem is showing 4640 Kbps but I'm only getting around 3000 Kbps according to the speedtest. Quite disappointing, I was hoping to get at least 2x faster downstream speed than my previous 2Mbps connection. xmojo1 (4630)
495290 2006-11-02 06:09:00 Finally on xtra now, ihug slowed the process...no net for 1 1/2 days is hard :P

Far better speeds on xtra, very very very happy and my ping is sweet.

Still trying to get through to ihug to cancel everything I had with them...on hold for 1 hour now...they have so turned to **** Inet just wants them gone.
jd74 (10834)
495291 2006-11-02 23:59:00 I would be cautious in saying Ihug slowed the change over.. Remember they still dont have access to the exchange, so any work or data redirection done there needs to be done by telecom. If you were without internnet then its xtra who didnt reconnect when you were disconnected from Ihug. Also be aware that when I left Xtra they refused to disconnect me until 3 weeks after I notified them. This was 1 week into my next cycle, They then proceeded to charge me for the entire cycle even tho I had no access to any services from them. Personally I wont use them again no matter how good they are. stumagoo (10748)
