495234 2006-10-30 11:47:00 After jumping out of Xtra and moving over to Ihug, and then switching to Xnet after Ihug wanted me to pay for a new connection when I moved house ($99 fee was the same for leaving them, so I left for a better plan) (and being abused for doing so by their operator!) I'm thinking about going back to the dark-side with Xtra, their new "Go Large" plan look too good to be true. Is this right?
$49.95,per month, max dwnld speed possible, 128 up, and no data cap????
should i just switch already? I can't see anything better anywhere else?

495235 2006-10-30 13:55:00 its tempting, yes, but we all know what xtra are like, i say within 3 months taht plan wont be round anymore, and everyone will be switched to a ''HUGE'' amount of 10gb-15gb...

so im staying with orcon, great speeds, good enuf bandwidth, at a great price, plus with all this talk about ADSL2+ being tested and stuff, which is planned to be realeased early next year(i think) id say its safe to just stay with what youve got, cause leaving xtra is a ***** of a task to do, like, literally, it took me a month of sending letters, emails, phone, moving house, and everything else to get rid of them, and they STILL wanted to charge me hundred bux for moving house when we had ''sorted out'' that we were going to orcon(they wouldnt disconnect us so they made the new connection at my new house just to get a hundred bux cause we hd been with them for 12+ months and were allowed to leave for free, but xtra dont like the word free lol..), lol *******s, i hate xtra so much

495236 2006-10-30 20:20:00 The Go large is quite limited in what it can do.

If there is congestion or its peak time then Fair use policy and Traffic management is put in place. They are not specific about the times of peak but simply say likely 4pm to midnight. And if its a bit busy at xtra then they will slow people down untill its a little less busy.

So if you don't mind a ever changing connection go ahead. I am on the Go Large plan because there is nothing else to go for (max line speed is 1mbps). The plans thye offer are not giving enough bandwidth like normal.

495237 2006-10-30 22:55:00 Go Large sucks I'm in the process of changing to orcon Overdrive_5000 (4950)
495238 2006-10-30 23:26:00 I haven't had a problem with slow speed yet on Go large. Except for the fact that I can only connect at 1mbps.

But what is up with the Usage Meter? How does it work? I have used 900 mb in 3 days and it shows the bar past 50%. What happens when I get to 100% :o

Why? Xnets bringing their FS speed plans out at the end of the week.
And theres no guarantee with anyone that you'll actually get full speed.
And Xtras no cap is not true.
