| 494906 | 2006-10-26 10:38:00 | The computer-illiterate and cash-strapped son of a friend has decided he needs a notebook and has seen a $999 Compaq at Warehouse Stationery. I have also seen Acer, Toshiba and another Compaq at DSE for about the same price. They all have similar specs: 1.4-1.6ghz processor, 40-60gig disk, 14" screen, CD writer/DVD reader, etc. The main downside to them seems to me to be lack of RAM - they all have 256mb - but can be upgraded. These are clearly not top-end machines, but when you consider he currently uses a Win95 PC, I suspect they will be good enough for him. Does anyone have any opinions/experiences of any of these beasts? |
