| 495844 | 2006-11-01 22:57:00 | This is probably a stupid question but I'm stuck nonetheless. I already searched the forum but couldn't find a solution. I have wiped my PC's main HDD and just completely re-installed Windows XP (home edition). That went fine and XP is up & running OK. Prior to wiping the main HDD I copied all my data and downloaded files to the second HDD in my PC. Now I want to copy them back to the main HDD. Problem is that under My Computer and under Windows Explorer, the second HDD is not shown. Under Computer Management / Disk Management, both HDDs are shown. The second HDD is shown as healthy (active) yet I can't access it. The only thing that its shortcut menu will allow me to do with it when I right-click on it, is to delete the partition (and that's the last thing I want to do since I'd lose absolutely everything). As of now I can't do anything more without being able to access the second HDD. Would anyone here be able to help me ? TVMIA ! Emile. :badpc: |

| 495846 | 2006-11-01 23:27:00 | Depends what u copied to the other hdd. If theyre documents it shouldnt be a prob, but if you copied programs that were already installed and expect them to work they wont. They'll have to be reinstalled. Does the 2nd hdd appear on the post screen / Does the BIOS see it? |

Emile what file system is the second drive using? Did you have any security measures install on the drive previously? Such as restricted persmissions? |

I tried both (accessing while logged in as administrator) as well as start up in safe mode and I still can't access the second HDD. Emile. |

I only copied their downloaded install executables, and registration keys where applicable, so that I can re-install them (once I can get to them :groan: ) . |

But I can tell you that the primary HDD is the master on IDE controller 1 and the 2nd HDD is the slave on the same IDE controller. Emile. |
