That sounds like a good idea. But as you suggested I'll get in touch with someone who knows the software and its pitfalls. I was told last night that it shouldn't be too hard to get the data off the HDD so here's hoping.:rolleyes: |

| 495866 | 2006-11-02 23:35:00 | There are no real "pitfalls" but it helps if you are familiar with the OS you use. The live disks shine at recovering "lost" data if you know how to approach the recovery and a $5.00 CD is a bit (read heaps) cheaper than a visit to the puter doctors. |

You're so right - I found out today what it would cost to recover the data on the HDD :groan: . However, someone also recommended I try Paragon Partition Manager. OK, it set me back a few $$, but IT WORKS ! It advised me that the 2nd HDD was not formatted, but nevertheless the Volume Explorer tab showed the entire HDD structure and folders which can all be exported to another location (in this case, the primary HDD). So finally I can get my data back :D . |
