2006-11-01 02:14:00 | Yes but the 17GB was under the old plan and was well within my usage rights under that plan. Now because I changed plans they want to charge me extra for it. If I had used this under the new plan then fair enough but this is outright highway robbery Ring them and talk to them, and let us know how you get on.

2006-11-01 10:36:00 | yeah i agree with whoever said that billing you for data used on a previous plan is unfair, but they cannot be held liable for your assumptions, however reasonable they may have seemed to you at the time. it does sound like it is a case of the system being better set up for upgrades, but ihug is good at offering upgrades that are really downgrades. example: when the 3.5Mb plans were brought out ihug proceeded to "upgrade" all their plans to the new speed, while cutting the on-peak caps in half! Naturally i asked to remain on my 2Mb plan as i've never seen more than 1.5Mb partly due to my extreme distance to a busy exchange (average speed is aprox. 1.2Mb). They agreed to leave me on the old plan, but i had to wait 15min on hold to talk to them. so yeah, call them as ask them what they're playing at, but dont expect much sympathy in the courts... $35 is hardly worth the effort despite principle

2006-11-01 10:47:00 | I agree with somebody. Ring them and I'm sure it will get sorted. BillyT, on your comment, I am changing from iHug to Xtra. Not because iHug have upset me or of poor service. Because I can get a better deal with phone, broadband etc being a home business. All ISP's are there to make a buck as am I. They all have their pros and cons but now days they are much a much for service ( i might have my foot in my mouth this time next week when on Xtra). People complain about Telecom, I am not a big fan either but if they can provide a service the same as others or better then fine. I agree with you that people have short memories and equitable treatment should be given.

2006-11-01 11:11:00 | Billy - I don't understand the sarcasm, which is totally uncalled for. I would also have assumed that the change to the new plan would have been at the end of the billing period of the old plan. Is that assumption unreasonable???? Obviously it is to iHug's benefit to change plans early, but is it legal? Isn't there a telecommunications ombudsman? If so, then a call to them might be a good idea? The sarcasm is totaly called for and you don't make assumptions.( Or Shouldn't)

2006-11-01 11:17:00 | Well they are now owned by British company. If you have even been in england and have had to deal with an english company, you would be surprised at just how bad their service and how inefficient they are compared in NZ companies. I would recommend switching to a NZ owned company if you don't get it resolved easily, on principle. What a load of rubbish. Are you trying to tell me that Telecom are a better company than Vodafone. And yes I have been in England.

2006-11-01 11:21:00 | y They agreed to leave me on the old plan, but i had to wait 15min on hold to talk to them. Well that is better than the usual 30mins plus for Xtra.

2006-11-01 11:37:00 | What a load of rubbish. Are you trying to tell me that Telecom are a better company than Vodafone. And yes I have been in England. Bollocks. In terms of customer service, yes I think telecom are better. Telecom will reply to an email in 1 day. Vodafone say on their website that it will take 7 days to reply to an email.Which is the better one. I have delt with BT and vodafone in the UK, and both suck in terms of service (I am talking about 2006 levels of service), compared to NZ Telecom. UK service companies and government depts, seem to have now contracted out everything to asia now. I guess that is something we should look forward to here.

And when is the last time you spoke to a kiwi when requesting service from Telecom/Xtra. The last time I used them the first one I could not understand and the second one was not much better but the third was good and it took me about 45min for a simple query. They save money by not having too many people receiving calls but it costs those making the calls. Oh what a great thing capatilism is! The other thing is I will ring Vodafone rather than email. I learnt that years ago. It amazes me how untechnilogical technilogical companies can be. |

2006-11-01 16:12:00 | It is definitely a RIP!! But to make matters worse for this scenario to have happened it must have been PLANNED!! I cant think of anyway that a plan change of ANY service would result in this bizarre billing charge . Before ringing Ihug I would be looking over their T&C because if it is there, you're screwed . It would be a reasonable assumption that when you purchase a new plan while still under an old plan that the new plan wold take affect . The worse case being that you pay overlap of 7 days rental .
