| 496358 | 2006-11-04 01:39:00 | hey guys, was just wondering if i can reinstall windows xp on my desktop using the authentic cd that came with the desktop and the key present on the sticker on the side of the computer. Would this work? Or would i get an error message from microsoft when activating the product saying that ive already activated that particular key like 2yrs ago(when i bought the computer from pbtech). Im confused on the whole activating issue. Cheers, v.K |

There will be no hassle activating again - Microsoft know their product is unstable and requires reinstalls . . . . . . . . . . . |

| 496362 | 2006-11-04 11:05:00 | No problem usually. But you might need a driver to install the network/internet connection. It might not be on the disk. So unless you have it elsewhere you're stuffed. Your motherboard manufacturer website has the driver, make sure its on usb or cd or whatever. Activation is a trivial process and can be done many times as needed over the internet (for xp anyway). |

| 496363 | 2006-11-04 14:59:00 | if you have an internal dialup modem yes you *might* need a driver for it although xp has plenty of drivers in it's database........however if it's running adsl thru ethernet then it's likely that xp will simply install a driver that runs your ethernet card quite happily ....dont think I"ve come across any installs that didn't do that.....and as stated......re-activating is trivial.... | drcspy (146) | ||

There are quite a number out there that MS could not find the correct driver - I personally came across 2 - 3 cases (can't remember exactly) where XP failed to install the correct driver. But, generally, XP installs the LAN drivers quite happily :) |
