496243 2006-11-03 18:00:00 Hi all I just recently purchased a new motherboard, processor and ram. The motherboard i bought is the new gaming mobo from the Fatal1ty line. The processor and ram worked fine, but when it tried to detected my hard drive on the first boot up test it hung at post code 75 (in the booklet it says that stands for the mobo looking for and checking IDE connections). The hard drive worked fine on my previous motherboard, a ASUS P4P800. So if anyone could give any ideas itd be great! Ill post more on what kind of hard drive it is when i get home and the exact mobo model.

Thanks a lot!

496244 2006-11-03 18:49:00 Nice MB.

SATA or IDE hard drive?
If IDE, have you got the jumpers correct?
If SATA have you got the settings correct in the BIOS? By defualt its probably looking for an IDE, you'll need to read your MB manual and go into the BIOS to make sure you have everything right in there first.

496245 2006-11-03 20:08:00 my hard drive is a Western Digital wd1200-jb. It has no SATA port on the back and it says enhanced IDE on the hard drive so i figure its strictly IDE. If anyone could give me any advice on setting the BIOS. I tried changing some settings but to no avail. I'm probably missing something.

496246 2006-11-03 21:20:00 Well i called the technical support line...that was a joke. The guy sounded like he was reading out of the manual i already had. Oh well if anyone has any ideas itd be most appreciated. Jon2887 (11389)
496247 2006-11-03 22:33:00 Well set the BIOS to default settings and reconfigure the BIOS.

And if the hdd is on primary IDE Master / Slave, make sure its on AUTO in the BIOS.

What else is on the same IDE connection as this hdd?

Also make sure if there's something else on the same IDE connection as this hdd, that you've jumpered one as Master and one as Slave.

And since its a new mobo, reinstall windows if u havent yet.

496248 2006-11-03 22:55:00 Just a thought, but make sure "IDE RAID" is not turned on in bios straitjacket (9698)
496249 2006-11-03 23:48:00 Well my hard drive has a previous build of Windows XP installed from when it was in my old mobo. Would that have any affect on this motherboard not detecting this hard drive? Jon2887 (11389)
496250 2006-11-03 23:55:00 Well my hard drive has a previous build of Windows XP installed from when it was in my old mobo. Would that have any affect on this motherboard not detecting this hard drive?

Maybe but usually its better to do a repair install whatever its called or reformat/reinstall if the mobo is replaced. XP will know the diff between the old and new mobo... And may have probs working / booting into XP.

496251 2006-11-03 23:55:00 Nope, as it is having problems before Windows even loads, it has nothing to do with it.

Edit: Beat me to it, Speedy!
