2006-11-06 23:08:00 | Hey Guys, I not a wiz with computers but I know a little bit. The issue I'm having is with my USB ports. Since I had to change my motherboard I can't get anything to work when I plug it into the usb ports. Everytime I plug something in it it comes up with the "This is new hardware lets search for drivers" and even if it finds some drivers on the system it still doesn't work. Have tried going into devices and uninstalling usb ports but when it reboots it asks for drivers for the ports then doesn't work again. This is even with things like simple usb flash drives. I looked on the bios and everything seems to be enabled. I don't know about IRQ setting they could be wrong. Could someone help please? Thanks

2006-11-06 23:21:00 | Did u reinstall Windows or do a repair reinstall after the mobo was changed? If u did, did u install SP4 (if u have 2k), or SP2 if u have XP? What version of Windows is installed?

2006-11-06 23:31:00 | My OS is Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600). I didn't change the mobo it was done at a pc store. But seeings everything was the same when I got it back I'd say a windows reinstall or repair reinstall wasn't done. Thanks for quick reply

2006-11-06 23:42:00 | If u paid for them to do it take it back and tell them to do it properly. If u dont know how to reinstall windows. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2006-11-06 23:45:00 | Your right Speedy and thanks for your advice. But I'm not going to be near the shop for a week or so. I need some advice the might fix it sooner. | troyt (11402) | |
2006-11-06 23:49:00 | Well the only other option is to format / reinstall windows yourself. Just change the bootdisk in the bios to cd / save the settings, put the XP cd in and reboot. And let it install. After that change the bootdisk in the bios back to the hdd and thats it. I take it, you have an XP CD?
