496977 2006-11-07 23:48:00 Had clarification from Xtra as to the Go Large plan... there's no 200MB per hour during peak times limit. (computerworld.co.nz)This only applies to the wholesale WBS Cabriolet plan.

It would be an impossibility anyway considering that international bandwidth on Go Large is only around dialup speed or less :)

(A test this morning on Speakeasy New York City server was downloading at around 9 kbits per sec)

496978 2006-11-08 00:11:00 I have decided to upgrade to Go Pro fro Go Large, to see if there is an improvement. It was really slow.

BTW: 200MB/hour = 445kbps or 55KB/s.I just checked my Usage Meter and I have already changed. Thats within 48 hours.

496979 2006-11-08 00:12:00 The 200mb/hour applies to WBS Cabriolet and Go Large.

If I could post pictures I would. The PDF posted before is corrupt for some so here: PDF (doom.us.to)

496981 2006-11-08 00:25:00 200 Megabytes in one hour is very easy to reach if you are hard downloading files or watching videos. However, it is hard to reach if you are simply browsing sites.

Threfore I can only assume, "Go Large" is for browsing and "Pro" is for downloading.

496982 2006-11-08 01:25:00 Thanks for the link. Answered my questions. I wonder why that PDF file is not accessible off Telecom. I wonder why Telecom say it only applies to wholesale but that PDF article refers to Go Large plans.

Edit. Maybe after this forum discussion they pulled the PDF file and backed off saying it now only applies to wholesale?

Telecom is being accused again of trying to stifle competition with the introduction of "traffic management" on its Xtra broadband Go Large plan.

A University of Otago computer scientist says this time the offensive is against internet-based competitors in the calling market .

Simon McCallum says Telecom is limiting bandwidth available to Voice Over Internet Provider programmes such as Skype, preventing users from taking advantage of free international calling.

He says it is the first step down a path which leads to a fairly nasty control network.

Simon McCallum says Telecom is crossing the line by discriminating against certain types of internet usage.

Glad I got rid of "Go Large"

That'll explain all the slow speeds on Go Large and the moaning of users of extreme slow broadband speeds....

Yikes.. So... If you..
#1: Download more than 700Mb between 4pm and midnight... OR
#2: Download more than a tiny 200Mb/hr between 4pm and midnight...
AND
Do this twice within a week.....

Back into dialup hell you go..... You'll get your internet traffic squeezed through with many many other users, heavy internet users at that...

And.... Not only does Xtra Go Large customers have to endure this extremely tough policy, but also other customers of wholesale regulated UBS services....

Question: Hmm, which ISPs provide these wholesale rUBS plans (Cabriolet)?

It still works for me but there are 3 pages to it and only the first page is not corrupt.

That would be any ISP giving max/128k managed (which is the cabriolet plan).
