| 496967 | 2006-11-07 19:38:00 | 3. If you exceed this limit you are charged $0.02 per additional MB! Unless of course both people I talked to had their facts wrong. Sounds like the latter... I checked with Xtra and there's no overage charging (computerworld.co.nz). |

| 496968 | 2006-11-07 20:02:00 | I can assure you that it is official (www.telecom.co.nz). It applies for the WBS Cabriolet which is retail equivalent. Their policies and terminology meet with mixed reviews here, "Cabriolet" seems ok, after all it more commonly refers to omething that loses it's top at more or less regular intervals. (Initially I had thought it implied something sporty and a bit faster than the norm. Wrong again.) "Go Large" at a rate of 700MB/day would seem to mean "Large Gone". Even a single ISO download puts the user in the "see me after school" category, and a second within a fortnight is a definite detention penalty. So, to avoid sequestration, the user can expect to limlit their downloads to 1.4 GB a month? Do the math for an always - on connection used 8 hours a day, and dial - up appears to be a better bet for speed and usability. :groan: |

| 496970 | 2006-11-07 21:33:00 | Had clarification from Xtra as to the Go Large plan... there's no 200MB per hour during peak times limit. (computerworld.co.nz)This only applies to the wholesale WBS Cabriolet plan. | Juha (10418) | ||

Err, so they have a provision in their wholesale plans that they offer to other ISPs but they dont enforce it on Xtra, sounds like the Telecommunications Commissioner would take a rather dim view of this... |

| 496972 | 2006-11-07 22:09:00 | what is the "WBS Cabriolet plan" and how does it apply to other isps? So there is no 200mb limit on go large at all then? | lance4k (4644) | ||

WBS Cabriolet is the plan Telecom sell to ISPs to allow them to compete with their retail offerings, according to T/com it is suppose to be based off their retail offerings (ie Go large), if they intend to introduce a service distinction between the two there is gonna be one more reason for ISP to do their nana, www.telecom.co.nz Q/ What is the exact change between Wholesale Jetstream and WBS? Answer WBS plans are based on the retail equivalent Xtra Broadband plan. The retail plans include the Telecom Xtra ISP layer however, which is the responsibility of the service provider to supply so the pricing is adjusted to reflect this. |

| 496975 | 2006-11-07 23:20:00 | Ok. This is a bit confusing. So there is no 200MB issue. What about the 700MB issue? How exactly do you get onto the bad books and if you do how long do they slow you down (to dialup speed I presume)? Is this for just peak times and for how many days (a week?)? Since Xtra said no comment if they would consider what measures they would take with the 200MB issue, so its a possibility that ISPs and Xtra may choose to enforce this 200MB if they want to at a later date? |

" She better hope that after it's actions are judged the users are not in charge of sentencing, or there will be a large demand for black caps . |
