| 497132 | 2006-11-08 10:58:00 | The problem started after I upgraded my Firefox to version 2.0, however I don't think that this was the problem. Every time I ran Firefox 2.0 for a little while it would use up 99% of the cpu and then lock up and would not respond. If you installed the upgrade over the top of the previous version I would suggest that you save your bookmarks then uninstall FF completely and start again. Make sure you delete all the Mozilla folders off your hard drive before reinstalling FF2. |

I recommend a good defrag too in SAFE MODE afterwards. You didn't have Norton/Symantec/McAfee...right? They are killers of speed. (I didn't look at the HJT and confirm it..sorry) |

(I didn't look at the HJT and confirm it..sorry) It looks like something from Symantec is installed F:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe Why I dont know. Coz thats the only file from Symantec on the hdd. And yup Mcafee's software is installed. |

He has been appropriately dealt with. PressF1 members are normally friendly and helpful. |
