497132 2006-11-08 10:58:00 The problem started after I upgraded my Firefox to version 2.0, however I don't think that this was the problem. Every time I ran Firefox 2.0 for a little while it would use up 99% of the cpu and then lock up and would not respond.

If you installed the upgrade over the top of the previous version I would suggest that you save your bookmarks then uninstall FF completely and start again. Make sure you delete all the Mozilla folders off your hard drive before reinstalling FF2.

497133 2006-11-08 15:49:00 The cpu usage problem has seemed to go away (only happening rarely now).

However, after the installation of SP2, my internet speeds have seemed to slow/stop after a bit of browsing.

497134 2006-11-08 18:16:00 A good run of CCleaner (www.google.com) will probably get that cache junk and old prefetches off that hdd and speed things up a lot.

I recommend a good defrag too in SAFE MODE afterwards.

You didn't have Norton/Symantec/McAfee...right? They are killers of speed. (I didn't look at the HJT and confirm it..sorry)

It looks like something from Symantec is installed

F:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe

Why I dont know. Coz thats the only file from Symantec on the hdd.

And yup Mcafee's software is installed.

497136 2006-11-08 19:03:00 Thanks for trying, but I've heard better attempts at trying to make fun of someone from 15-year-olds on myspace forums. We take a very dim view of people on this forum behaving like children too with snide remarks like Greg's. He has been appropriately dealt with.

PressF1 members are normally friendly and helpful.
