1399883 2015-05-03 00:48:00 Sounds a fairly useful device.... IF it was priced at something the $2 shop would sell. Greg (193)

1399885 2015-05-03 02:19:00 Most would have one of those fans you use in the summertime ,just stick it behind the fire if it one like pictured and blow the hot/warm air were ever you want Lawrence (2987)

decoration.
won't transfer anything other than your money to their wallet.

household electric fan or even better a ceiling fan.
if you use a fan at the fireplace make sure its not going flat out. if you cool the fireplace to much it can cause problems with poor combustion and fouling up the box and flue.

It does say 100 degrees is necessary to operate it?

thats probably right.
seeing the wires out of the back of the motor makes me think its a Peltier unit (like some cpu coolers). stove heats one side and you need cooling fins on the other, and the difference in heat drives the fan.
of course cooling fins are still in the heat flow so its only going to be a very low wattage unit and a very low flowing fan which simply will not blow air across the room like their advert suggests.

1399891 2015-05-03 05:08:00 to add, if you got a $50 mains powered fan, it will flow 100x or more airflow than that stove top one, and use i dunno 50c worth of power?. with the amount of $$ you save from buying the stove top you could power a big fan for a lifetime and it would actually move air around the room well enough to keep everything warm. tweak'e (69)
