1399301 2015-04-25 01:12:00 Here is a pic of husband's Dad's WW1 War medal. He was in the horse infantry London Regiment and fought at the Somme. He was wounded twice, passed away in 1975, 1 year after my son was born. I gave it to my son today.

Sorry it's upside down, don't know how to rotate it while editing.

1399302 2015-04-25 01:50:00 Good to pass these onto the next generation. I went to the service at 9am this morning in our village expecting maybe 30-40 people. I think it turned out to be nearer 250 who turned up and that's after the 5000 who turned up at dawn in Nelson. gary67 (56)
1399303 2015-04-25 02:41:00 This is the British War Medal instituted in 1919 to recognize the successful conclusion of the First World War (1914-1918).

1399304 2015-04-25 03:06:00 Thanks Bobh, I have seen that site before when researching for genealogy. It is most informative, and yes, the medal I posted is the British one, inscribed on the outer edge are details of the person. Name, Regiment, etc.

Actually you should've rotated not flipped...

If you do it your way and also flip side to side, you can see what's on the back ;)

I gave it to my son today. Tell him he has to keep it in the family, so it can be passed on for generations to come. :)

Gee!! we are only asking you to rotate the picture - not do handstands or somersaults. :D

I do know what you mean though.
